Removing medium size critters (campaign idea)

I just had an idea for a campaign: Remove ALL medium sized bipedal creatures (whether Pc or monster). I mean remove as in "they never existed" not as in "they all suddenly die". PC's would start as some small race (halfling (renamed) and gnome, maybe goblin and kobold, maybe other small races).

What does this do? Well, when you come up against Large creatures, they look REALLY big! DM could describe as "three times your size!" It might help to use different units of measurement than feet and inches, just to get characters used to thinking of their size as the "normal" one.

I think it might make for an interesting twist. What do you think?

Interesting. I harbor no hatred for the little folk, so I'd be game... it would give me an excuse to run that feral halfling barbarian I've wanted to try. Just as long as I didn't have to go up against a bunch of large multi-tentacled grapple monsters, of course...

I am currently playing in a campaign with a similar notion: "Humans" are halflins renamed, and the real human race is called "Giants". All normal PCs are Small-sized creatures.

I find it very annoying. It adds nothing to my enjoyment of the game. The rules are written with the expectation that Medium is the "normal" size, so all creatures are described in terms of how they deviate from that. Having to constantly apply an extra adjustment or two to every action for every character is tedious. The DM is happy, and the other players are not complaining, so I go along.

I always wanted to do the opposite. Giants as the good guys, gnoems and halflings and dwarves as expansionistic nationalists. No humans.

Imagine the pain at fighting folks who can seemingly disappear in small spaces!

It wold take a lot of work to invent all the ways 3 fters would have developped techniques against the giants, but it would be fun. :)
