I remember reading a couple of interviews with him back in December, after the first movie was released.Jackson said he and the films' other producers and some people from New Line Cinema talked about the possibility of changing the name shortly after 9-11. But they came to the (obvious) conclusion that the films should keep the names of Tolkien's original books, and that by changing the name of the second movie because of the 9-11 terrorist attacks would be allowing the terrorists to have too much of an impact on our lives.</blockquote>
