Wow, thanks for those pics! Can you let me know where you found these? Also, to me it dawned after a while that Star Spawn=Foulspawn from 3E/4E, no? I mean they have the same description, the names match (Grue, Seer, Hulk, Mangler). The Larva Mage stands out as something else, and even the description mentions Kyuss so they are more like the Sons of Kyuss here. I love this book, absolutely. The art is amazing for most, and so many classic creatures we have not seen since 2E reappeared, it was amazing. I concur that I enjoyed the Blood War section the best. I like that they reiterated again that fiends can only truly die on their home plane - explaining why the Yugoloths fight so freely in the Blood War anywhere expect Gehenna. :) I liked the Duergar section too, their origin story makes them more sympathetic for me. I don't think in previous editions Laguduer started out as a mortal, no? Them now using psionically-powered machines instead of slaves is a nice evolution of the species. That's the only place I felt the art was missing in not showing those construct duergar... that, and the Molydeus. Every other creature was depicted nicely. I mean we don't need three artwork for the Khrutik of various sizes, And I loved the notion that there is an underground movement to reunite the Githyanki and Githzerai... similar to how Spock tried to reunite Vulcans and Romulans in Star Trek TNG. The Abishai being reinvented and redesigned to look more like devil-dragon-people was a nice touch, and they also have more varied roles and power levels - they exist outside of the normal hellish hierarchy basically, not being promoted from Lemures but reincarnated from Tiamat's worshippers. Neat that each type sort-of follows the roles those Chromatic Dragons are known for - Whites are powerful berserkers, Blacks are stealthy assassins, Greens are manipulative diplomats, Blues are powerful wizards and lore collectors, and Reds are charismatic leaders. Funny, if you check, how many races and monsters in this book were somehow influenced or created by the Mind Flayers, no? Even the Oblex are their creations. At any rate, this is certainly a book - like Volo's guide - that I want a physical copy of. Hopefully it gets discounted eventually, as the local prices in Hungary are even more expensive than if I ordered and shipped it from elsewhere...
