Request: Cross Deity Lists

Dracorat

First Post
I tend to use any ol' adventure that strikes my fancy with my players.

Is there any place where people have taken dieties from one campaign setting and listed the similar dieties in others, in all three of the following formats:

Dogma (general attitude)
Alignments
Domains

??

And if not, does some people want to jump in and give their opinions? I can try to maintain a table in this first post if people do.

Thanks!

These situations changed and/or were retconned by the time the FRCS was published.

FWIW, the FRCS also has a conversion table on page 9 listing all the Player's Handbook deities and their FR equivalents.

I've attached that conversion table from the FRCS here to help :)

In any case, there are, via the many D&D supplements, a ton of other dieties which would require a conversion table with the FR Dieties.

In any case, I'll help as I can, and check in on this thread :)

cheers,

GH

Boccob I would go with Azuth (wizard god) or Mystra (magic)
Heironeous I would go with Tyr
Beory = Cheanteau
Obad Hai = Silvanus
Pelor = Lathander
St. Cuthbert I would go with Torm the True
Wee Jaas = Jergal?
Iuz I would go with Iyachtu Xvim
Vecna = Velsharoon
Hextor = that minor six armed guy from the 2e deity book cover, Gar-something?
Ralishaz = Beshaba
Ehlonna = Miellikki
Erythnul could go with Malar for the bestial brutality
Nerull = Myrkul
Incabulous' disease aspect would be Talona IIRC about her secondary aspect

DL
Takhisis = Shar/Tiamat
Zeboim = Umberlee
Sargonnas = Talos
Paladine = Elminster?

Lankhmar
Issek of the Jug = Ilmater
Aarth = Azuth
Kos = Tempus

Um, I seem to recall reading - in more than one place - that Takhisis is another name for Tiamat, and Palantine is another name for Bahamut. They are different names for the same beings. So no 'conversion' or 'cross' is necessary to state that Tiamat is Takhesis. And Palantine as Elminster?! 1) Elminster is not a deity. In fact, he was offered divinity by an overgod and chose to turn it down. And 2) Elminster is borderline insane (at least that is what his creator - Ed G. - has said on more than one occation). Somehow that doesn't compute well with Palantine. Also, isn't Palantine LG? Elminster is not Lawful. He is Good, as I recall, but by no stretch of the definition is he Lawful. (Not that he is Chaotic; he's just a good example of being right on the line between the two.)

Not entirely.

Out of game, yes, the DL deities were directly inspired by Tiamat and Bahamut in the 1e MM. In game the situation waffled in various sources as to if they were the same beings for a short period of time, but IIRC they were subsequently clarified to be different entities with similar themes as of the 1e Manual of the Planes. 2e further made this distinction clear in multiple sourcebooks. And in 3e, DL has made it a moot point assuming you use their new 'nyah nyah we have our own cosmology which has retroactively always been this way' thing. ;)

And for reference to the original post, here's the Planewalker.com deity list, a nearly comprehensive resource for those deities which have appeared in D&D, including names, portfolio, rank, relevant sources/references, and fluffy details. Enworld's own Alzrius compiled it.
