Resist keyword and insubstantial

One of my players has asked about the Godhunter Epic Destiny power "Deicidal Eye" which, among other things, says that "Your attacks ignore any resistance or immunity possessed by the target".

Would this include the Insubstantial keyword and/or the half damage from swarms? Both are listed in the monster's stat block after the keyword "Resist" so it seems to me like it would ignore those effects and allow the Ranger to use his bow to full effect.

What monster are you talking about?

Really, I'm talking about any monster that might have the Insubstantial or "Swarm" abilities. The power I'm talking about is Deicidal Eye from the Godhunter Epic Destiny (from Martial Power). The power states that all attacks will ignore resistances, and I'm wondering whether or not that includes the "special" kinds of Resists like insubstantial or the swarm ability that lets them take half damage from melee and ranged attacks.

I'd say no, Insubstantial is not a type of Resistance. They are recorded in the the same area of the Creature's stats, but have separate entries in the PHB.

I'm inclined to read a level 26 Daily utility power pretty generously, so sure, let's throw insubstantial and swarm in there.

True enough. As usual, the inconsistent wording is annoying.

The MM uses three headers; Immune, Resist, Vulnerable...

... so, yah, I've changed my mind.

Godhunter lets you ignore the stuff in the Immune and Resist listings.

But if we're reading it like that, then the Champion of Order only gets to ignore the resistances of demons and elemental creatures, and a Monster Knowledge Checks only you information about resistances, and vulnerabilities, but not immunities.

Weirdness.

Thanks for the input, all. I think I am going to rule it that the power does allow it to bypass any damage-halving abilities, both because I think that's the RAW and that it makes the power even that much more powerful - if you're a Godhunter, you should be pretty darn powerful.
