Resize magic items

also, in the book it states" like almost all magic items" so which ones do not resize? AND since I have a game writer answering(thanks by the way) why was that rule put in?

What about weapons? I ruled not, in a campaign I am running, but I am considering re thinking that. It does mean that the giant king with the +4 Greatsword of Wounding will have useful items for the party, if they survive. Also that Magical Pixie weapons are of use, Or that a Pixie or Giant can disarm, and take the players weapons (and use them). Seems messy to me, if you allow it.

I wouldn't allow weapons to resize. The way the rules are right now for regular weapons and armor, the user adapts to the weapon, but the armor adapts to the user. Let me illustrate - A longsword is a size larger for a gnome, the same size for a human, and a size smaller for an ogre. The weapon doesn't change. But armor/shields specifically need to be built the appropriate size for the user. While all (or most) bets are off with magic, allowing a magical longsword to be wielded by a pixie or a giant requires a lot of bookkeeping. How much damage does it do in each form it shifts to, for example? Much easier to just keep it one size, IMO.

Do you have a reference for that? I don't like the idea of a halfling's magical leather armor resizing to fit a cloud giant that tries to put it on, so I'd like to see such an official ruling.

I have been looking for a few hour now, and come up with didlysquat. I am sitll looking because I still believe that I read it somewhere. The only place I have not searched thoroughly is the FAQ. That is only because I do not like to rely on unofficial documents.

I would hate to say it, but I am almost certain that this rule has been a house rule for so long in my group that it almost seems real. I will still look just to be sure.

Thanks you for your time.

I'll remember that the next time I look at one of your house rules on paper. :p

I said that I don't like to look at the FAQ as often as others. It does not mean that I don't look at it at all.

That's not what you said. You already dug your hole. Time to lie down and enjoy it. ;)

Still, it's unfair for small sized PC's to be unable to properly wield magical staves unless they resize to a more appropriate length. There isn't a hard and fast rule that can be applied to this, which is why "like most magic items" means to me, what the DM allows.
