Thanks to everyone who pitched in with ideas about the Brain in a Jar on the other thread. While I haven't added levels of Psion to this little guy yet, I still want to get opinions on him. Alright, after playing around with it a bit, I've come up with this. Now, there are no hard and fast rules for something like a Brain in a Jar controlling a construct, such as an Iron Golem, so I had to go ahead and just assume that the BiaJ is mentally controlling the construct's body. Basically, what we have here is a normal iron golem with a BiaJ mounted on top of the shoulders. I've added the Evolved Undead template to the BiaJ once and have also advanced the BiaJ to 9 HD. The evolved template gave it a +2 to charisma and it gained another +2 to charisma through advancement, moving it's charisma from 16 (+3) to 20 (+5). The physical stats belong to the Iron Golem, while the mental stats belong to the BiaJ. Fort and Ref saves belong to the Iron Golem, while the Will Save belongs to the BiaJ. The BiaJ dictates alignment as well. Because of advancement, there were some skill changes and feats were added as well. Concerning the golem's breath weapon, I know that the posionous gas usually comes from the mouth of the golem and, since there is no golem head here, that there usually wouldn't be a breath weapon. However, I envision a vent of some sort on the creature's chest that can release the breath weapon instead, under the control of the BiaJ, of course. Thoughts? I think that one of this creatures biggest weaknesses was that it can still be turned by clerics as if it were an undead creature. Do you thuink this is right? Is turning more of a spiritual compulsion or a physical thing. Since the BiaJ is in mental control of the golem, dictating it's actions, I am imagining that if someone successfully turns the Biaj, then they turn the golem. Thoughts? Also, would it be prudent to place a glassteel spell on the BiaJ portion of the creature? As for CR, I have the following - Iron Golem CR 13, BiaJ CR 4, Advanced Template +1. How about the advancement? What will this creature's CR be? Anyways, here's what I have so far. Thoughts are very appreciated to get this little guy ironed out. Iron Golem with mounted Advanced Evolved Brain in a Jar Large Construct and Tiny Undead St 33 (+11) Dx 9 (-1) In 16 (+3) Ws 12 (+1) Co - Ch 20 (+5) Hit Points: 129 (body) and 51 (head) (18D10+30 HD and 9D12 HD) Armor Class: 30 (size (-1 size) dexterity (-1 dexterity), natural (+22 natural); touch 8, flat footed 30 Fort. NOTES: The Advanced Undead template gives him the greater dispel magic ability 1/day, as well as the fast healing 3 for the BiaJ portion.
