When my group switched from AD&D to 3e, I recall having many such discussions initially. But after a year or two, seasoned players had settled on a certain uniformity of understanding. It was not completely universal among all players, and there were some who even disagreed with FAQ answers from the designers themselves, but by 2002-2003 it seemed the vast majority of rules disputes had been resolved and even new players to my games who had had previous 3e experience were in great agreement with my groups' readings of the rules so that such disputes became quite rare.</p></blockquote><p></p>
