Return To Against the Giants / Rod of 7 parts

I played Rod of Seven Parts (rather, I DM'ed it until my group imploded - but not because of the adventure).
I always liked it, but it takes a sufficiently high-level group to complete, even if the players don't go and fight everything that moves.
But the diversity of the settings was always a great plus in my opinion.

Played through the Rod of Seven Parts a while back and really enjoyed it.

Our DM started it off as a Celtic based campaign so it was a bit of a surprise when we ended up involved in some planes-spanning mega-conflict between Chaos and Law.

Great fun!

I ran the Rod of Seven Parts, with some changes to the goals to fit my game. I also changed the
aboleth
dungeon near the end and replaced it with the third book from Night Below, because I found the dungeon a little uninspiring and also wanted to run the third book of the Night Below after the abject failure of the death-by-perpetual-encounter that is the second book of Night Below.

My players really thought that the
giant
adventure in Ro7P was cool, with some great roleplaying opportunities.

Overall, it ran fairly well, one of the better published mega-adventures I have run.

Bo is my Coach said:
I think it is technically called Against the Giants: the Liberation of Geoff.
It was a silver anniversary adventure I think.
This is correct. I've never run the adventure but I do own it. I've only read portions of it. Its very different from the original series, and though I belive it does allow the player's to return to the original sites and fight new badies the feel of the entire adventure is ... different. That's about the only way I can put it. Its been some time since I've read through it and even then I didn't make a thourogh read since I was switching to DMing to playing for a while, and we've never gotten back around to Grayhawk.

So is Against the Giants: the Liberation of Geoff a 3.0/3.5 version module, or is it older than that? I've never even heard of it until this thread. I'm interested in taking a look at it.

actually I think it came out just before the 3e stuff so Im pretty sure it's 2e ... which is probably another reason I've never run it come to think of it
