Radian Some games like Mutants and Masterminds almost require the DM to come up with new and interesting villains and heroes. Super heroes can be fun to create but every now and again a little help is needed. That is were bnook like Radian come in. They present some character the player characters can go against or ally themselves with, or even just hear about. Radian is a PDF by Big Finger Games. It uses the Super Link for Mutants and Masterminds. Big Finger Games has another product like this one. That one is Troll and features a villain with troll like abilities and temperament. The PDF is small, only a dozen pages long. The layout is bookish with very little art or other items to break up the text. The few pieces of art are actually not that great either. The book is book marked. Radian presents a super hero, but frankly it just is not all that interesting. He has a full background that consists of gaining super powers, loosing them, and then gaining different ones. In the history is a potential world changing event with space spores that rain down denying people their super abilities. I think that little plot hook was way more interesting then the character but very little is given on that. The book offers two NPCs. The main character Radian has stats as a power level twelve and sixteen character. There is also his side kick or apprentice, Blaze, who is presented as power level seven. The book is really not that expensive coming in a under a dollar. So, if one is in need for a couple characters with background and personality all fleshed out then this will serve that function. There are many uses for written NPCs it is just that most of the material here failed to inspire as it is written.
