:p <picky>Spell Focus</picky> A few thoughts: First up, disintegrate is the only save or die spell (that I'm aware of) that we've seen modified. Even in its current form it still seems to hugely outperform the evocation damage spells. If I'm going up against a foe decked out with the usual resistances am I going to go for the SR/fort/40d6 or SR/ref/15d6-cold resistance? It really does depend on how SR, ER and DR are changed in 3.5. If you take away haste from a 3.0 wizard and send them into the fray using evocations their damage will be unimpressive alongside the fighting classes, limited in its application (you can't keep throwing fireballs after they're in melee with your party - a fact many people seem to forget when they talk about how powerful aoe spells are), and they will run out of it fast (limited spell pool). Meanwhile the fighter types can just keep on swingin' all day long. Sure the mage has all kinds of out-of-combat options that non-mages need items to replicate, but combat is a big part of D&D, like it or not, and most people like to shine in combat from time to time, munched or not. Utility guy is a job better suited to an NPC.
