Free and easy and good-natured, it was hard to believe that it would lead him here: in a cage.</p><p></p><p>His people were nomads, wandering the plains, following herds and trading with various communities. Some were small and isolated villages and, to them, Nimh's tribe was a boon, providing much needed supplies and information from civilization. In these places,Nimh would carouse and play with the locals and, sometimes, get up to mischief. But his mischief was in good fun and he rarely got in trouble.</p><p></p><p>Other places - usually the bigger cities - mistrusted the wandering band of nomads, thinking them to be dishonest thieves, which was far from the truth: they were a deeply spiritual people and they forbade Nimh from carrying out his antics in these places. But it was in one of these large cities that the Raven whispered into Nimh's ear and sent him into the city to do some mischief.</p><p></p><p>Unfortunately, mischief led to an unfortunate accident and an injured noble. While Nimh tried to make ammends and heal the noble, she turned him into the authorities. Not being a citizen, Nimh had no rights and so was locked in jail and, by week's end, he was to be hung. His Tribe had forsaken him for disobeying their laws and, since it had not been the first time he'd been in trouble his luck had run out.</p><p></p><p>Or had it?</p><p></p><p>The evening before he was to be hung, he was released from his cell. He was escorted to the outskirts of the city and, there, his escort - a guard who seemed uncomfortable in his armour, handed Nymh a note with a location. It was signed, <em>G.
