RHoD help needed - SPOILERS!

Our group is having a lot of fun with this. The party is just about to begin the battle at Skull Gorge in Part 1. As I'm planning for what happens next, I'm a little confused.

My party jumped on these events immediately; for them, it's day 3 of the story. Yet, all of the post-Cinder Hill events state that they occur, e.g., between days 10-14. I suspect that my group will be at day 6 at the latest by the time they return from Cinder Hill and see the Horde.

What am I missing? The Dawn Way from Drellin's Ferry to Cinder Hill is at best 30 miles on a good road (and my party is mounted too). What else was the party supposed to do in the meanwhile that would make it not before day 10 or later before they decided to do something (such as start to evacuate the town)?

Thanks.

I thought they were supposed to be trying to convince the people of Drellins Ferry to evacuate before the horde got there.

Also, take a look at pages 36 through 41 for stuff that should happen

* Goblin raid occurs between day 4 and 14
* Chimera attack between day 10 and 15
* Rumors of War between day 10 and 15 (after the horde crosses the gorge or goes around)

Understood. But my question remains: how long is it supposed to take to convince them? 4 days to a week or more? The conversation sort of implies that it's a matter of a day's deliberation at most.

And of course the goblin attack encounter makes sense. But those other encounters don't occur until day 10 or later. I'm pretty confident that, if I know my players, they won't be dragging their feet that long.

Unless those attacks are supposed to occur AS the evacuation hypothetically is going on?

Sorry if I'm being dense about this - I just want to make sure I haven't missed something critical in the encounters as written.

Spoilers

SPOILERS

Let's see
Day 3: Skull Gorge; after the battle rest and recuperate
Day 4: Sneak up to Cinder Hill, see Azar Kul's address to the Red Hand, then sneak back to Skull Gorge.
Day 5: Side Trek to Warklegnaw (could spend a day or two here, think Merry & Pippin with Treebeard)
Day 6+: Back to Drellin's Ferry
Then various encounters in Drellin's Ferry

I agree that they give you more time than the characters probably need, if the characters are traveling fast.

Feel free to adjust the schedule of events as necessary.

As I see it, as soon as the players have convinced the leadership of DF to evacuate the town and head east, they (the players) are free to move on, and head to Rhest and investigate the next chapter. There are no other critical encounters left in DF.

Let the PCs get ahead of schedule, if they manage to do so. They will lose that time somewhere down the line, no doubt, in some other section, IMO.
