That's exactly what I did with the ring of bravery idea above. I'm not sure if a save-enhancing item can go up to +10. I didn't feel like looking as I was lazy yesterday. Later today maybe I'll have time to look up the information. Funny thing is this: At least one person was convinced that my ring of bravery was so chock full of ignorant rules errors that my reaction to the posts correcting all of my errors would be something to the effect of duck and cover. Other than one minor quibble, which I already amended in the item's description, the only people actually commenting on the ring of bravery seem to substantially agree with me. Hmm. Maybe we're all missing something? I went and skimmed through the rules books. I can't find any mention of there being a cap on morale bonuses, but it is obvious some sort of cap must exist. The DMG might have said information, but, if so, I missed it. Of course, there aren't any saving throw bonus items higher than +5 listed in the DMG, which is something I overlooked originally. Mea culpa. I also checked the ELH, but morale bonuses are not mentioned in the introductory section on magic items. The ELH does mention a +5 cap on resistance bonuses. It wouldn't be unreasonable to treat a morale bonus to a save as if it were a resistance bonus. Going this route, my ring of bravery idea could be seen as possible only as an epic magic item. Going this route, reducing the bonus to +5 (the hypothetical [?] maximum), the item would look like this: Ring of Bravery: This magical ring grants a +5 morale bonus to saving throws against fear effects. Caster Level: 7th; Prerequisites: Forge Ring; Market Price: 12,500 gp; Cost to Create: 6,250 gp & 500 XP. If someone wanted, I suppose the ring could also include a resistance bonus: Ring of Bravery: This magical ring grants a +5 morale bonus and a +5 resistance bonus to saving throws against fear effects. Caster Level: 7th; Prerequisites: Forge Ring; Market Price: 25,000 gp; Cost to Create: 12,500 gp & 1,000 XP. The two bonuses would stack, and neither bonus breaks the apparent cap for saving throw bonuses. Edited to add colored commentary.
