The music of Rock and Rhole seems to “coalesce” around the wind dragon, signifying the beginning of its end.Ikni, propelled by Rhole's song, somersaults over her sword and somehow turns the momentum of her tumble into a sweeping circular cut that nearly severs one of the panther's legs before carving a deep gash in the dragon's foreleg.  Derien's starting to get the hang of all this dazzle, he thinks.  "Don't rub your eyes, just blink really hard!"  Unfortunately, that's terrible advice.The harpy continues playing her song and all but Rhole are affected. In the battle of the bands, she seems to be winning. The panther disappears from view as a veil of mist appears around the dragon shielding it from view.The dragon steps back and roars so loudly that it shakes Ikni, Haruka, and Ironheart to their cores.
