RIP: Ronald Reagan

"They hold up signs saying 'Make Love, Not War' and they look like they're incapable of doing either one."

--Then California Governor Reagan referring to Berkeley protestors.

I edited out the last for being a little too current events-political. Please be careful, guys, and I'm sorry for your loss. --Dinkeldog

Reagan's term in office ended in 1989, not 1988.
Yeah, I know. I actually stopped to consider which year to list. Ultimately, I decided that 20-some odd days wasn't worth listing. 1989 was GHW Bush's year.

Friday, 11 Jun, is now a Federal Holiday...

I grew up with Reagan as President. The thing that stands out the most is I remember at 7 years of age feeling like my mother was a total fool for voting for Mondale...

Another line not on here: After he was shot and he was taken to the emergency room he looked at his doctors and said, "I hope your all republicans.

As a guy who watched Alzheimer's Disease slowly deprive his Grandfather of his mind and later his life, I don't feel sad at President Reagan's passing. His decade-long battle with the disease is over, and his suffering is finally ended.

I hear ya. My grandmother died the same way, and my wife's grandmother has been lingering with it for the past several years. You are correct, his passing is more of a good thing than a bad thing (it may not seem like it to some, but family and friends who have been through the Alzheimer's stuff with a loved one will understand).

I grew up with Reagan as president (born 1970, child of the 80's I am I guess...). I always had great respect (even when I got older and understood a lot more :)) for him and what he did in office. He will be missed.
