I'm starting to appreciate the people who write those scripts for the AI salesmen even more. This year, I've received almost a call a day on average from somebody trying to get me to invest in something. They're not as entertaining as the robots. Worse are the nearly as frequent calls from "Peggies"* with accents from the Indian subcontinent who want to talk to me about: 1) my Windows computer possibly having a security issue 2) an online survey I (or someone in my household) took regarding Wal-Mart, with a gift card to be awarded These calls are 100% pure BS. 1) I don't own a Windows computer; the closest I come is an Android smartphone which I plan to ditch for a plain vanilla cellphone at the end of this contract. I overheard one of the of the Peggies ask his supervisors for assistance when I revealed this, followed nearly instantly by a nice, rude hang-up. 2) I haven't done an online marketing survey in years, and nobody in my household has been in a Wal-Mart since 2005. We don't do Wal-Mart. Period. And like the Windows Peggies, the Wal-Mart Peggies simply hang up once caught in the lie. I hope I'm not crushing the spirit of some poor schmoe who is doing a soul-sucking minimum wage job in a boiler room to feed his family, but I can't care too much. * Peggy, of "USA Prime Credit" fame:
