Call Animal Companion summons a natural or fey beast of your choice, appropriate to the environment the ritual is cast in, to become your Animal Companion. The Animal Companion's level can be equal to half your level or your level - 3, whichever is higher, although you may choose a fey or natural beast of a lower level if you wish.
The Animal Companion serves you faithfully and to the best of its ability for the duration of the ritual, and can be given simple commands. The Animal Companion does not shy from battle, and can be given orders to attack. Additionally, as long as the Animal Companion remains within 10 squares of you, you gain a +1 ritual bonus to AC and all defenses, along with a +5 ritual bonus to Perception checks, since the Animal Companion warns you of approaching danger.
Once the ritual's duration has ended, the Animal Companion retreats back into the wilderness from whence it came. Once this happens, or if the Animal Companion is killed, the ritual cannot be performed again by the same character for another 7 days.
