Rodney Thompson is discussing playing Rock Band yesterday, in his blog In it he makes a joking comment about game design.

think there's a lot to be learned from rhythm and music games when it comes to game design. I think 4E will really benefit from some of those lessons. (That oughta set the message boards on fire. HA HA!).

I wonder how much of that is serious and how much is just joking. I'm sure it's mostly the second, but I wonder if there is much that 4E could gain from that sort of game design.

Maybe, just maybe he's commenting on how a game like that always includes enough activities and special features so that everyone playing it is happy with the game in the end, and no one feels "Left out" or whatever.

Well, D&D has always been about collaboration. If there are ways to make the process even more fun for all involved, it sounds good to me, especially if bards can shred in 4E.

My 2e bard, Lotat the Magnificent, was the one who first wrote "Stairway to Heaven". He rolled a natural 20 to perform it and almost set his lute strings on fire :)

There's no Perform skill, in 4E it's assumed everyone can play an instrument of their choice. This is why it's called a 'band' of adventurers. Together, they fight crime.

The only thing worse than with-holding so much information is deliberately-- even in jest-- spreading mis-information. Not the only time a wizards employee has done it either.

Actually, the only thing worse than withholding information is the amount of crying going on because people feel like they're entitled to it or people taking a joke and trying to turn it into some anti-WotC "misinformation" nonsense.

I mean, do you actively search out things to turn into some kind of conspiracy?
