Roleplaying a Shifter

DarkJester

First Post
The PC's in my game are going to have a run in with a shifter soon. The shifter will be a reoccuring villan (They won't know this right away). The shifter in question, Arylan, is after the PC's after they destroyed a rather large portion of his sacred grove. The PC's in question are not very good people, but only one is evil.

The druid is blind, but can see through his many forms...as well as having the blindsight feat.

I can not come up with any "good" way to run this guy. I'm trying to think of why he chose to become a shifter in the first place...etc. Any ideas you care to toss in?
*Edit* Arylan's alignment is undetermined at the moment,he will not be evil though.

Are you talking about the Shifter Presige class from Masters of the Wild? If so, perhaps the character is socially isolated from humanity and feels more kinship with animals and monsters, and the shifter class lets the druid become closer to what he considers his family. The druid might reach the point that he actually thinks he is an animal or a monster of some sort. Maybe the character was driven insane by the destruction of his sacred grove, and now considers animals more important than humans. He/she is not doing whatever he/she to be malicious or to teach people a lesson, just to protect his "friends and family".
