Rome - Season 2. Starts tonight!

Steel_Wind I understand the way you feel. I'd try the online stores DeepDiscount.com and Buy.com and possibly Overstock.com (though I've never ordered from the latter) they're usually a lot cheaper then retail stores and I have always gotten free shipping from DD and usually with Buy though both do offer expedited shipping if you want that (I can wait the extra time with the free shipping). Just a couple of suggestions.

It's a shame there won't be a S3 for Rome, it's one of the best shows on television. :(

Thanks - but that's not really the issue. If I wanted it - I could find it I suppose.

I just regret there was not more of an attempt to mass market this thing to sell more and get a season 3. That's the regrettable part.

Maybe; then again, maybe not.

The number of these units on sale in shops in Toronto is exceedingly low. Sopranos? Yes. At reasonable prices. The rest. No. Even Band of Brothers in its metal box was very hard to find - and now is simply not for sale anywhere in town.

It's the fourth largest metropolitan area in North America. It's not like it's a small market.

Retail stores would not carry Rome season 1 here. I never saw it - not once. I inquired and was advised it could be "special ordered".

So, on that evidence, I'll have to politely disagree with this.
Perhaps it's an issue with distribution in Canada, then. Here in my city (sixth largest metro area in the US) there are plenty of copies of everything in every Best Buy, in Fry's Electronics, in Borders and Barnes & Noble, etc. No supply issue at all.

And here, in a country 4000 miles away across the Atlantic Ocean, they're everywhere - supermarkets, music and video stores, etc. The evidence to me suggest that - Steelwind's bizarre expereinces aside - the marketing and distribution on these things is huge and worldwide.

And, to mock the title of the thread, the second (and final) season ends.

Wow, great ending! It mattered not whether you knew the historical ending, the drama was top-notch. Attia's looking around was so full of meaning, for example, and the way our two heroes end up was really perfect. Vorenus' sense of honor never failed him, and Pullo's sense of loyalty to Vorenus was ever-touching. Great, great stuff.

I just finished watching the last episode last night....

wow...I think it ended well.

Though I didn't like Attia at all through the series I think she did deserve to go first at the end. It was fitting with all that she went through.

Vorenus' had a wonderful end as well. I'm glad his kids made up.

I liked that it ended with Pullo and son walking off together.

And as for Gaia's death, since I didn't watch that until this week too, in a way I think she really did love Pullo at the end. She gave him a great gift...a way to get over her death and someone to blame for the death of his first wife&child.

Beautifully done. I love that they didn't make Vorenus and Pullo come to blows. I was afraid that they were going to be forced to fight each other in the battle.

Is Vorenus the perfect example of Lawful Neutral or what. He does his job. That's what he does, without fail.

Possibly the most lavish sets and some of the best acting on TV ever. I'm sorry to see it go.

Some of the best television I have watched in my life. It will be something I will need to eventually get on DVD and watch on a screen as big as life. It will be missed. Superb! :)

I still like his reasoning on why he picked Pullo to help him find the missing eagle in the 1st season. Pullo was expendable.

It made so much sense for such a Lawful hooking up with such a Chaotic.

and I so liked that Vorenus was able to get past that difference. I still think Vorenus was a stick in the mud...but at least he realized who his friends were.
