Encountermaps.com has launched a Kickstarter project to create four new, poster-sized battle maps for the role-playing and miniature game community. Each map is a massive 24x30 inches (61x76.2 cm) in size, printed in full color and laminated for wet/dry erase markers.

Jared Blando, noted fantasy cartographer and artist is creating the maps. Each of the four maps has a different theme, from a sunken necropolis and a flying city to a fortress built in an ancient tree and a sinister labyrinth. All maps are designed and printed in the United States.

I think a $40 buy-in for all four laminated maps with shipping included and electronic versions of same is very reasonable. The artist has a nice portfolio and if someone already loves his work I don't see why they wouldn't jump right in at that price.

Thanks Mark. We definitely want to price as competitive as possible. Which is difficult because we don't have the economies of scale as some of the big companies. And, our product is start to finish made in the USA, so that just costs more.

Flip mats are 24 x 30 and approx $10 (once you add tax and/or shipping) and although they are two sided, often one side as sort of generic so there's plenty of those around already. It's a good deal at that price for getting all four so I would think it should do well once the word gets around a bit more.

Hello all,

Looks like this thread has had about 170 viewers at this point. I am curious on any constructive criticism you all have? For those people who usually would buy maps, what is holding you back from this offering? We want to provide both the best product possible and the best kickstarter offering package.
