First Post
I received the following letter in my email regarding some professional RPG work I've done in the past. After some research, I find it to be a legitimate request; no requests for money or any kind of scam. After a few exchanges with the author, I figured I'd post the information here, as I know a lot of RPG professionals frequent these boards.
Mine, for those morbid enough to care, is here: http://www.roliste.com/bio.jsp?id=1393
Text as follows, edited to remove some specific names. The writer isn't a native English speaker, but his English is far better than my French.
:
Hello,
name withheld gave me your address, because he worked with you on some rpg product. So, here is what I have to ask you, that I already asked him :
I would like to make, with your help, your biography, for the GROG (http://www.roliste.com), of which I am one of the administrators. You will find (lower) the blank biography sheet, then some details about the GROG (you can also go to http://www.roliste.com/mission_us.jsp, where much is said) and how to take part.
Our first biographies (more than 400), in french, are visible at http://www.roliste.com/bios.jsp, listed in alphabetical order.
If you already have a biography somewhere on the net, you can just give me the link and tell me to translate it, it will be fine. And if something is missing I will ask it - often the exact date of birth, we wish each one his birthday on the front page, at the right time....
By the way, if you have the mails of other published actors of role-playing game world, and if you think they may be interested, thank you to tell us. Or you may contact them and give the blank sheet; or invite them to contact us....
Best regards,
Hervé Jeune

1 - The GROG
"I" represent the GROG, or Galactic ROle-player's Guide (Guide du ROliste Galactique), of which I am only a (benevolent) member among many others. It's a french web site whose goal is to become the most complete encyclopedia of the role-playing game world, french or other. This site is managed by an association, without any commercial aim or link.
For now, about 400 games and 4000 game products are described, and it advances quickly. Visitors can leave critics about each product; you can also find links towards other encyclopedias, gamers clubs, editors, shops....
You can find many other things, such as the description of the actors of the role-playing game world: authors, translators, artists.... Which got me to contact you.
2 - Taking part
If you run after time, and you don't want to be bothered any more, no problem. Send me (to herve.jeune@free.fr, or admin@roliste.com) a mail to let me know; I'll note it, so I won't send another mail later.
If you prefer another medium for making your biography, all is possible. If there are opportunities to contact you (meetings, trips, phone, chat...), thank you to make us know: we are dozens in France (or elsewhere), one of us may be able to contact you as you please.
If you want to "play the game" by mail, just use the upper biography sheet, and fill the data (and attach a ID photo (jpg), 100 pixels wide or more) - that is, what you want to be published - and send back (in a mail, or txt or rtf file).
For a biography exemple, the best is to open one (or more) at http://www.roliste.com/bios.jsp - but they are in french. But if you want, I can send you a false biography (of myself) in english, to get the "mood". Visitors won't be able to do as for the game products, that is criticize them.
Note that you may put a message to visitors, in your language, after "message/autobiography" in the blank sheet.... There is no length limit to your biography, it may fill many pages... downloading will just be a bit long!
All is not fixed, and good ideas are always welcomed: if you have critics or suggestions, don't restrain! The GROG is a collective work, alive, just limited by the time each member can (want to) spend....
