Freebies and Pay What You Want
One of the two million-dollar Kickstarters going right now is Old Gods of Appalachia from Monte Cook Games, who have put out a free 30-page primer on the setting and the Cypher System. You’ll get not just information about the 1920s/1930s dark fantasy version of the Appalachia but also playable cyphers and creatures that those familiar with the Cypher System can try out now.
Starhold is a survival horror science fiction RPG from Remescient that's been around for a while now, but Rem recently made the game available for free. Inspired by franchises like Alien, Mass Effect, The Expanse, and The Martian, the system uses a simple 2d6 mechanic and features 32 unique Spacer types to play. Disclosure: Remescient is also a freelance artist who designed a custom emote for my Twitch channel.
Terry Herc is back again this week with another great offering for sci-fi GMs, 1d100 Sci-Fi Criminals, a table that lets you randomly generate a Name, Nickname, Occupation, Crime, and Overheard Quote for science fiction settings to quickly come up with NPCs on the fly.
The 66-page setting book Night Borough by Morgan Lean requires a bit of explanation. So the game Dark Star is a sci-fi/horror RPG, which has a supplement and setting book for dark low-fantasy Beyond the Black Sea, and Night Borough is a setting book for that which draws heavily from gothic horror. However, this book also has rules to convert from Dark Star to Dungeons & Dragons and from Dungeons & Dragons to Dark Star. So you’ve got multiple ways to approach this book, either as a setting for D&D, a setting for Beyond the Black Sea, or as an introduction to the Dark Star system.
After that, this next one is straightforward as Fool’s Gold by Jean Luc Lariviere-Lacombe is a 20-page introductory dungeon crawl adventure compatible with MÖRK BORG. An otherworldly patron called upon you to abduct an imprisoned alchemist from a place cheerfully named Sanguine Halls and bring them back (alive is optional) for a reward.
Who doesn’t want more monsters for 5e? That’s where Fearsome Foes and Where to Find Them by Joshua Greer comes in with 48 monsters from CR 2 to 30, 10 new spells, 5 new magic items, and 3 new settings.

Over on Itch.io, the Autism Acceptance Month Co-Op Bundle features 22 RPG titles by autistic creators including solo games, novels, coloring sheets, and resources like a scientifically accurate timetable for optimal interplanetary departure times.
Also on Itch.io, Penflower Ink has the Four Points RPG Sale featuring five books using the Four Points RPG System: The fantasy heist Loot the Plutes, the fantasy gardening game Guarden, the science fiction Outward Bound, the fantasy game Goblins & Grimoires, and cryptid exploration game Creature’s Features.
On the Dungeonmasters Guild, the Sidekicks ULTRASUPERMEGABUNDLE (no, my caps lock key isn’t broken, that’s how it’s written) is a collection of 5e books that include new options for sidekick NPCs for your characters. The bundle features Sidekicks Essentials meant to work alongside the Dungeons & Dragons Essentials Kit to add sidekick characters to the game, while Sidekicks: Beyond the Essentials expands the rules all the way to level 20 plus three books to add more Sidekicks to your game, Droop’s Monster Manual of Sidekicks, Fey Friends, and Tasha’s Beautiful Sidekicks. Earl of Fife Games put together a bundle of third-party Starfinder material with fourteen total books getting you pre-generated characters, settings, class options, new abilities, settings, adventures, random NPC generators, and a lot more.
PenguinComics has a collection of Fantasy Town Maps ready for use in virtual tabletops. Each map comes in print and VTT quality and each of those comes with and without a grid, with maps for a forest citadel, a lake shrine, a penitentiary, and a sanctuary.

Bundle of Holding has the Old-School Treasures bundle featuring recent books for Old-School Essentials. The Black Library has partnered with Humble Bundle for the Tales of the Space Marine Chapters Bundle set in the world of Warhammer 40,000. The bundle comes with three levels, the $1 level giving 6 ebooks, the $10 features eight more books for a total of 14, and the top tier of $18 has everything from the prior level plus ten more books for a grand total of 24 novels.
