I'm currently rather favorably inclined toward Wildspire. See, a while back I backed a kickstarter by a company called Blacklist Games that would provide a bit over 400 minis at a cost of $225 (including a rulebook for a skirmish game I wasn't likely to play). This Kickstarter was supposed to ship in May 2022, which didn't happen. Turns out that the money I paid was gone, either due to malfeasance or incompetence (the most benign interpretation is that Blacklist was underwater due to unexpected costs from previous Kickstarters and used the money from this KS to cover that – but apparently the guy in charge of Blacklist, Alex Lim, had done similar things with previous games which explains why his name wasn't anywhere near the Kickstarter), so I had pretty much written it off. And then a few months ago, Wildspire swoops in and buys the property from Blacklist. This purchase apparently includes the STLs from the Kickstarter, but no physical minis or molds. Those of us who backed it back then have received STLs, and Wildspire has offered to fulfill the minis from the previous Kickstarter for a rather generous price (about $100+tax+shipping – those who didn't back the previous one can get it for about $200). The number of minis is slightly lower (371 instead of about 420), but that's because instead of getting 5x of certain minis we're now getting 4x of them. Now, this situation is of course pretty far from ideal. What I would like to have happen is that Blacklist would fulfill their promise, but that doesn't seem likely to happen. And Wildspire, having bought the property from Blacklist of course has no legal obligation to fulfill their kickstarter. But they're providing the minis to us at what I expect to be pretty close to at-cost, and I think that's pretty sweet.
