RPG Now Problems?

Wik

First Post
Are there problems with RPG Now? I just paid for Dundjinni, and got about 80% through my download before it stopped DLing completely. And, now (after resetting my computer and all that fun stuff), it won't DL at all - I just get sent to an error page (a "mysql. cannot connect" thing).

I already sent a note to the staff, but I was hoping maybe a tech head might know what the problem is. Any guesses?

I can never download more than two large-ish (10 MB+) files at a once from RPGNow at certain times of the day. I suspect that their traffic exceeds their available bandwidth from time to time. But the error message that you're getting. . . yeah. . . that sounds like a serverside issue on their part. I'm just learning SQL, though what it sounds like is that the SQL Database server is either down or experiencing network connectivity issues (it must be up and running for pages that draw from the database to display properly).

Hello,

I apologize for the inconvenience. We are experiencing some server issues at present and I am told we should hae them resolved by tonight or tomorrow. I would suggest you try your download again perhaps later tonight as the server should be less taxed at that time as well.

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you as of yet, but the problem has been identified and our tech folks are working on it.

If you would like to contact me concerning this or any customer service issue please use the "contact us" link from the site here - http://www.rpgnow.com/contact_us.php.

Thank you for your business and please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns.

So, I tried DLing it. And, 20% into the DL, it said the DL was complete, and then I can't open the product. There's nothing in there - it's an empty file.

Funny thing, each time it says "DL complete", there are still "5 Downloads Remaining".

Yeah, the whole thing has me confused. I sent another message to their Tech Support:

Hello.

So, I messaged yesterday about trouble DLing, and I got a nice response via the EN World Forums that the site was down. Now, I can actually start downloading, but within about ten minutes (maybe 20% of the DL) my file says the DL is complete, but I can't open the zipped file, because it's empty.

I'm trying to DL the Dundjinni map-making software, and I'm having a real problem with this. I've DL'ed much of your other stuff, and there's never been a problem. But, I've tried DLing this several times now (and, funnily, each time I get a "DL Complete" message, I still have five downloads remaining) - and I'm getting an empty file.

Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. If that doesn't work, I'm okay with taking DL credits from you guys, and buying the program from my Local Gaming Store.

Thanks for the fast fixing of this.

Anyone gone through something similar? The thing that really gets me here is the irony; it's easier to get a torrent of the product than the legal thing. Funny stuff. Damn me and my morals. ;)

For what it's worth, we run a large Mothers Day week sale on one of our other sites and it draws HUGE traffic... that is causing issues with the download server - though we're not sure why as we were supposed to be setup with hardware to handle it. The hosting company is looking into the issues.

But just keep trying your download is the only answer right now. Sorry.

James

I almost never have download problems at OBS (I did have some right after the merger, though that was to be expected). That said, I did get some SQL errors over the last week or so -- but they didn't interfere with my file downloads.
