Our RPG Meetup group hosted a RPGA Battle Interactive this past weekend for 30 players and it was awesome. If you don't know what a Battle Interactive is, check out my last thread on our event. http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/311519-huge-free-d-d-event-los-angeles-october-1st.html The BI was a pure battle fest, tapping into what 4e does best, the combat boardgame where we fought through 6 encounters + skill challenges with no extended rest. The excitement was impressive because everything that happens on your table (good or bad) has immediate effect on the entire "army" and your wins and your failures affect the storyline for all tables. Also, there were lots of real time aspects of play which were particularly impressive. For instance, our table accepted a special mission to take out the catapults along the wall. Which was a mistake unfortunately and the longer we took, the more catapult attacks dropped on each of the other tables who were engaged with ground troops. It became a race against the clock as we knocked out the first catapult, only to hear the cries from other tables as the catapults did their damage. It added a dimension to 4e play that I really enjoyed. Definitely will do this again! Our RPG Meetup will try to make this at least an annual event. If you have a D&D Club, I highly suggest looking into trying to host a Battle Interactive as a big special event.
