I have just placed a new version of RPGeneration (0.9.1) out on my server at http://www.evilsoft.org/Software/ Ok, first, my questions: 1) What do people want to be able to randomly generate? Ideas I have heard so far are Weather, Terrain, NPCs, NPC Equipment. What other kinds of stuff would you want to be able to just generate as a GM? 2) Do you prefer tools for helping a GM prepare, or tools that can help the GM react to unexpected situations/help the GM in game play? 3) What programs do you use that import/export data that you would like to be able to get input/output from a random generator? Changes: The biggest changes are: - Treasure is basically done (with the minor exception of intelligent weapons) - you can now directly use any table in the system, outside of the matrix that it comes from. So, for example, you can now just randomly generate a Rod, or a personality trait. 0.9.1: - Treasure generation now properly handles giving weapons/armor more then one special ability - Treasure generation now produces a total gold value - Treasure generation now marks items as intelligent if they are, but still doesn't do the intelligent tables - Treasure generation now does all other special qualities (sheds light, etc) - All tables are now accessible from the 'All Tables' tab. From there, you can now directly use any table in the system - Split tables out to their own file in each directory, and made all tables accessible from any generator tab. - Added an about box - Added multiple new features to the xml command & control file format Initial public version 0.9: Release (Standard Sphiel) RPGeneration is a java based Role Playing app that is meant to be able to basically generate anything. In the initial release, it can generate NPC Personalities/Attitudes, Character Names (as a pert of the personality generator), as well as SRD (DMG) treasure generation. RPGeneration can has a flexible file format that allows users to create thier own random generators for really anything they want, without coding. In the future, I am looking at adding Weather, Terrain, NPC Equipment, and many other generators, as well as a tool to allow people to create tables from the interface (no file editing Yea!) RPGeneration is released under the GNU GPL as Open Source/Free software. Appropriate parts are covered under the OGL. This is NOT a D20 program, and is NOT licensed under the D20 license. RPGeneration does include code from PCGen for name generation, and this is done so with permission, and under the GPL. RPGeneration requires the jdk 1.4+ Known Issues: All: Doesn't save (Weee.. Cut & Paste) Treasure: Doesn't do the tables for intelligent weapons/items I plan on repairing all of these before the next public release. enjoy! Soulcatcher
