First Post
I've run many full page ads in the past, but with the new POD system we'd like to do a round of more full color full page ads in 3 or 4 magazines.

I'd like your input as to which ad copy works best... please vote above AFTER looking at these links:

http://www.rpgnow.com/images/style2.jpg

Remember this is not about what picture or text you like the most, it's about which art is best suited for an ad that can attact potential customers eyes while browsing a magazine. The text will come later and all the text you see on these examples should be ignored.

I'm open to ad copy if you have any input... so far my thoughts are things like:

- "100's of products not found in your local game store"

- "Use this URL for free shipping?/book?/PDf?/$1 off? - *limited time offer"

- "Plus thousands of downloadable products including old out of print TSR D&D
books"

Also, I'm getting some flash box ads and banners together for promoting on ENworld and RPG.NET and others... thoughts on the slogan there would be welcome. For the first week or so I'm going to be doing a FREE SHIPPING promotion so that should be part of it.

James
P.S. If anyone wants to submit art/banners please do. I can trade for exposure on our network or paid work.

Something between style 1 and style 2. (I voted 1)

I would certainly mention something about the price, tell them they can buy books that cost just $5. Some people unfamiliar with rpgnow/ebooks might think that pdf books are just as expensive as regular books. (at least in Europe, many don't use/buy ebooks, because they don't know how cheap they are)

And indeed:
"100's of products not found in your local game store"

I voted for five because I thought it was the most eye catching.

I was a little confused about what you were asking for. I was under the impression that copy and text were the same thing. Is that right? The fact that I'm asked to vote for copy, but ignore text makes me think they might not be the same thing.

Also did you mean to post this in the Open Call thread? It seems a mostly like an epublisher thing. (Though there is the part part about banners).

As I said, I just wanted to know which BACKGROUND to use, you should ignore the text as I haven't put them on the ads yet.

You're right, I should have used the word BACKGROUND not COPY. Damn.

James

I voted for #5 because the art is something that would make me take the time to "see what the ad was about".
I almost voted for #1 because that is the first ad I saw for RPGnow, and I remember thinking when I saw it that it was for an oriental setting/campaign. I did stop to read it though, so I guess it worked. ;)

I indeed misunderstood the 'copy'. When it comes to background I would go for 2 or 5.

I voted for #3 because it focuses attention on the products instead of the art. Also, because the product pics are larger and more distinct (with no background pic to get in the way) it becomes easier to see the wide variety of products and read product titles and blurbs. Also because Ed's artwork attracts me right away.
