[QUOTE="Klaus, post: 2034945, member: 607"] Here are some news that ran on Brazilian TV (translated for your ease): In Minas Gerais (note: a state to the northwest of Rio), the mother of a female student murdered in a macabre ritual, in Ouro Preto (note: a small historical town in Minas Gerais) waits, for the past three years, for the solution of the misterious crime. Several suspects have been identified nut, to this day, no one was punished. In the cemetary where her daughter was murdered, Maria José made a protest. "As long as there's impunity we will be putting the lives of other innocents in jeopardy". Aline Soares was 18 years old and was participating in a student party. She was found killed, with 15 knife stabs and a deep cut along her throat, in the cementary of the Church of Mercies. Her body was laid in a cross-like position. On the body were found macabre drawings made with Aline's blood. In the students' hostel where she was staying, the police found books on vampirism and RPG, a game where the participants assume the role of characters in a story. Five youngsters that were members of a "Sons of Satan" sect were arrested. All were liberated by an habeas corpus (note: a legal procedure where the accused can wait for the trial in liberty). Three years after Aline's death, the process still hasn't been sent to court. According to the Ouro Preto D.A.'s office, the investigations performed by the town's civilian police (note: the branch of police that handles investigations, as opposed to the uniformed military police) are insuficient. Today the case was once again sent back to the police station. D.A. Edvaldo Pereira Júnior wants a more thorough investigation. "The Public Ministery (note: the branch of government that defends the public and investigates) believes that the colection of more secure evidence is necessary for the jurors that will handle this case, more assured elements so they can judge in the most serene way possible". The Public Ministery of Ouro Preto also asked the police superintendence for the appointment of a new investigation team. The family wants more D.A.s on the case, in hopes of ellucidating the case. "So that other mothers can grant liberty to their children and see them return home happy". Jornal da Globo, October 14th, 2004 Yesterday the girl's cousin, Camilla, was arrested. The police no longer doubts she was an accessory to murder. Other four youngsters, three males and a female, are still at large. The deputy-chief said: "The girl (Camilla) lost in the game and had to offer something to the other participants, so she offered them Aline, who in turn had to give her life". I'm beginning to worry that people are wrongly linking RPGs to murder, maybe due to the themes of certain games. And just FYI, the biggest-selling RPG in Brazil from the early 90's all the wat to 2001 was Vampire: The Masquerade (only the release of DnD 3.0 changed that). I just hope these people don't find out about "Dark Dungeons", as the prospect of RPGs being banned in Brazil isn't too impossible (they are already age-controlled; DnD, for instance, is prohibited from sale to people below 14; V:tM is prohibited to those below 16 or 18).
