Message: <blockquote data-quote="Argyle King" data-source="post: 5296764" data-attributes="member: 58416">I think it's both a good and a bad thing.  In general, I think it's a good thing because it broadens the hobby to a wider audience.  However, some people who don't know what rpgs are might also be lead to believe that the way D&D plays is the only thing playing a rpg has to offer, and the only way to play a rpg.  I remember seeing what I think was 2nd Edition at Toys-R-Us way back when.  I was a kid who had seen it in the store, and it seemed like something I would like.  I saved enough money from doing chores around the neighborhood to buy a few books only to go to Toys-R-Us a few days later and be told they no longer sold the product due to complaints from parents.</blockquote>
