So, wife got me the essentials books for early xmas.
Just finished reading Rules Compendium cover to cover, and I must say, an absoultely GREAT book.

This should have been available at 4th launch, seriously. PHB1 just didn't have the room to cover everything in such detail, with good examples and scenarios. This could have cleared up hours of rules arguments over the last couple years.

I know, stealth has evolved considerably, monster stat blocks changed a bit, and a bunch of other minor tweaks, but the core is now presented in an easy enough way for the rest of those I play with to understand.

I'm just glad it was part of a concerted effort to reinvigorate 4e. The 3.5 Rules Compendium didn't come out until after 4e had been announced and 3.5 was on the way out.

I actually wondered why we didn't get a 4e Compendium sooner as well. Maybe they wanted to wait until they were sure there would be no more errata on the core rules.
