So, I have an NPC LG cleric of Pelor being seduced by my single PC, a bard 5/rogue 1. I wanted him to be "a challenge worthy of a bard," so I had him have a vow of chastity that he shouldn't break until he gets married.

The problem is, of course, that all characters are helpless before a bard's wiles in RP, due to their skills, investment in skill boosting equipment, and magic. (And she got back to back natural 20s last night for her seduction scene, for a 41 and a 43, due to a circumstance bonus, but I still had him hold out.)

My PC finally realized last night that her inability to seduce him had nothing to do with her character's skills, but rather had to be a feat, class ability, or spell. She's loving trying to figure this out, recruiting a host of researchers.

So how will I explain how he's been able to hold on?

I've made a cunning plan... I had the high priest of Pelor's church curse him as part of a religious ritual to enforce his oath. ("The sunlight of Pelor's knowledge penetrates even the darkest gloom of the bedroom.")

Now the question is: which spell is best? Our choices are:

1. Bestow Curse
2. Geas
3. Mark of Justice
4. Your suggestion

*laughs* I'm just trying to imagine this sequence of events as a real world scenario: Girl meets guy. Girl throws herself at guy attempting to seduce him. Guy repeatedly spurns girl's advances. Girl, utterly mystified by the guy's rejection, proceeds to hire "experts" to figure out how/why said guy refuses to sleep with her. Experts return the verdict; Guy is either gay or just plain not into Girl. Experts collect lucrative fee and secretly mock girl's narcissism. :D

As for the priests' spell, I'd go with Geas. Nothing will put out the fire in your loins like suffering 3d6 damage. Ouch!

Mine is a funny campaign.

They keep finding each other in each others' arms. Then he keeps saying, "But maybe we shouldn't...."

Who knew that playing hard to get could work for men??

if pelor's anything like FR's lathander, why wouldn't he be permitted to sire children? they're most likely not though, and only tenuously related, due to domains, methinks.

lathander, however, has 'rebirth, renewal and life' so if anything, i'd think his clergy would love children, legitimate or not. they're mostly neutral good, so as long as you're kind to the child, love and provide for it, they probably wouldn't even enforce the random hookups/no marriage thing too heavily.

edit: just noticed "...vow of chastity..." i'll shut up now. ;)

Classic :D But I could see this actually happening somewhere. We've all seen how mystified people can be when what they do fails to work.
