Rules on extra-planar death

For the longest time, my group and I have played with the rule that if your character dies on a plane s/he is not native too, they immidiately return to their home plane are henceforth banished from said plane for 100 years and a day.

We picked this up gaming with some other group for awhile when our numbers were dwindling. Now we have a full-fledged group again, our own campaign world, and a fresh cosmology brimming with new dieties. But the question remains:

Is there a rule in 3E anywhere to support a character returning to his home plane if s/he dies on another one? I used MotP pretty extensively in creating our new cosmology, but could not find anything to support this. HELP!

As posted on an earlier thread, I believe about Gate, now Baalor's can give that last blast in their death throes instead of simply returning to the lower planes to plot.
