Is it possible to permanently steal someone's body using Magic Jar? Asking for one ugly wizard. ;)
Do you think any of these options are viable?

OPTION A:

How it works:

  1. Cast magic jar on the target. You possess them and their soul becomes trapped in the jar.
  2. Move the jar at least 100ft away from the target's body (150ft to 200ft to be safe). By doing this the target's soul cannot return to its body when the first spell is dispelled.
  3. In the target's body, stand within 100ft of your original body (next to or 10ft to be safe). When the first spell is dispelled, this makes sure that you are still able to be alive.
  4. Cast magic jar a second time while in the target's body. It is important to note that you cast this spell while in the target's body. This, therefore, causes the spell to believe that your original body is the one that you cast the spell from. This is where things get complicated. Because of the rules of magic, you are unable to have two of the same spell affecting you at the same time. Only the most potent spell will affect you. This can be taken to mean that the most recent casting of magic jar will affect you causing the first magic jar to behave in the following way: The first magic jar is dispelled when you cast the second spell. Since the magic jar is constantly affecting you, the second spell will cause the first one to stop functioning on you and thus dispel. This will cause the target's soul to die since it is more than 100ft away from it's original body. It will also send you back to your original body since you are within 100ft of it.
  5. Make sure to stand within 100ft of the target's body (and keep the second magic jar next to you in case DM pulls something) and dispel the second magic jar. Since the target's body is your "original body," you will return to their body.
There will be no more instances of the magic jar spell so you will be permanently in the target's body as if it was always yours. Your original body will be in a permanent catatonic state (basically comatose). It does not matter if it dies unless you want to return to it one day.
TL;DR
Cast magic jar on target. Move jar away from target. Stand next to original body. Cast magic jar again. Stand next to target's body. Dispel second jar.

OPTION B:

Simply cast Magic Jar, posses the body you want, cast Clone, wait 120 days, kill yourself, ???, new body.

Nothing causes a possessed body to be considered your "original" body it is only the "possessed" body. So neither work.

Though, you already posses the creatures body indefinitely with just 1 cast. As long the jar doesn't break or get dispelled. Plus if your body dies you can revert to your first one.

Magic jar + death ward and being further then 100' away = ???

Magic jar + death ward is great until Bobby a 5th level wizard comes along with Dispel Magic and decides to be a douche.
