Rules Questions (Charge, Shatter)

These came up in this weeks game; I feel like the first one has been answered before, but I cant find anything on it.

1) Can you charge through a friendly player? We found a passage which says you can move through a friendly player, but certain situations (charging, climbing hand over hand across a rope) would seem more difficult than that.

2) Can I use the spell Shatter to a) destroy peoples weapons and b) explode small animals? The second part of the spell says "any object", but all the discussion of crystal entities makes it sound like the designers intended the spell to be interpreted in a narrow way.

1) Yes, I think so. The only requirement for a charge is that you move in a straight line. You can even try to move through an enemy's square, see the Overrun rules.

2 a) Yes, but items carried or worn by a character get a saving throw.
2 b) No. There does not seem to be a definition of object, but the definition of Creature states "not an object", and it is quite clear that the rules use object as the term for inanimate objects.
