When can you use these in conjunction? My findings: Tumble can't always be used with a charge unless: You have the Tumbling Charge ability (or the like) from the Duelist but that allows charging over difficult terrain so its quite a bit better. You have the Stagger ability (or the like) of the Drunken master DC 15 to weave and bob and tumble. If you do an accelerated tumble (-10 on the check) you tumble (DC 25 or 35 plus depending on tumble made) at full speed and can charge as normal. Jumping as part of a charge is generally considered fine as long as you can meet the Charge requirements. Jump is part of normal movement and made at full speed. If you cannot move at full speed you cannot charge. If obstacles block the path, you cannot charge. If you cannot see your target, you cannot charge them. Jump requires 20 feet of straight (running) movement prior to the Jump (or take a penalty to the check). You cannot Run over Difficult terrain or through Obstacles. Long Jump even though you reach a height sometimes 5-10 feet or more above the ground, this doesn't count against your distance moved. Is this still considered a straight line in regards to movement? High Jump is just described as a vertical jump. There is no mention of jumping at an angle though one can assume thats part or wrapped in with a High Jump, after all you don't run and jump straight up, you jump at a angle. Certain feats and abilities also seem to allow Jumping Charges (none of these are completely straight flat lines). Pounce, Fleet of Foot, Psionic Charge, Battle Jump. Edit: Meant for this to also state that Fleet of Foot and Psi-Charge both allow up to a 90 degree direction change. So you would really need one of these to effectively jump at/on to someone when gaining altitude or going over obstacles, etc IMO. Pounce is a straight charge move (though the creature is really jumping on its prey). Battle Jump is another odd movement feat and requires only a 5' drop to charge, though by the feat you should/could be on a ledge, and jump onto someone, this intimates non-straight movement (you can't cut corners), so its 5 out and then 5 down. Also see Flying Kick (same as pounce IMO). The balance skill allows one to charge over certain types of difficult surfaces, even up/down slopes. So the line doesn't have to be flat?, just straight. You could charge up/down/over a hill using balance? How effective is balance vs Difficult terrain? or is it just for cobblestone, hewn sloped floors (of a worked nature) or could this apply to hills and other annoying minor ground obstacles? Fly allows a 30 move 10 descent charge-like attack (with claws or talons only), this is not a straight flat line for the entire movement. It is however a straight line. Jumping and Tumbling are both part of normal movement and may be used in conjunction. Either or both may be used with a charge as long as the charge conditions (and skill, feat requirements) may be met. Am I missing anything here? Any corrections or other input is welcome
