Message: <blockquote data-quote="Mannahnin" data-source="post: 9181710" data-attributes="member: 7026594">Oh yes, there are definitely prisoners who love RPGs and could really use them.  For entertainment and therapeutically.  They've absolutely got rehabilitative value.  But prisons in general are run in a much more punitive fashion than rehabilitative, and the folks running them tend to be authoritarian, repressive, and suspicious.  I volunteered writing holiday cards to non-violent prisoners a few years ago.  Wrote and hand-inscribed dozens, trying to give messages of hope and positivity.  At least half were returned by the prisons as unacceptable for arbitrary reasons.  That after we made a specific point of looking up the restrictions/rules on cards (stuff like no glitter) to make sure we didn't violate rules.</blockquote>
