The beastman shaman is shouting chants in his bestial language and hefting the effigy high into the air. Narančasta reaches the top dragging Tender who likewise pulls Boral after him. Kurl is nearly at Narančasta's side and ahead of Tender and Boral when the warrior hits the unsuspecting shaman and topples him into the pit still clutching the effigy. The high scream of terror reaches new notes of pain and then cuts off abruptly. Immediately the dim light of torches flickering around the top of the ziggurat is extinguished and the only light is a hellish glow coming from the pit. The four at the top can see into the pit: the villager, the shaman and the gold are all consumed by the magma and the effigy bursts into flame. The effigy draws in the sacrifice-laden magma and then hardens into a black shell that cracks and quickly falls away to reveal the fully armored body of a chaos lord: a hellish, horned humanoid with a single eye that blazes with infernal light. In one fist he clutches a triple-headed spiked flail. Several beastmen howl their anger in Narančasta's face and try to grab him to toss him in after the shaman. Only one is successful, however, and it grabs the warrior in a vice-like grip and tries to drag Narančasta to the edge of the pit. Franko, Homer, and Hank are amongst the villagers and therefore cannot see what is happening down in the pit but see a group of beastmen dogpile Narančasta. The villagers are in terrible shape; they are ill-fed, abused, and terrified. They hardly seem to recognize Hank or hear his reassurances over the horrors surrounding them. [sblock=OOC]doghead, that was enough to succeed at your first mighty deed. And so, the shaman is dead and you are all in combat. Well, Narančasta is in combat. The beastmen don't yet realize that the others are with Narančasta and so are focusing their ire on him. Aside from those surrounding Narančasta the beastmen are still realizing what is going on. You are up![/sblock]
