SAS to M&M, FCTF, & Godlike

Well, I am considering the different Superpowerd games, and wanted to get your input.

M&M looks awesome, and since it is OGL vs D20, it may not be compatible with other D20 stuff. It won't stop my from purchasing it.

FCTF - Cool download. lots of cool stuff that you can add on to standard D20. The only downfall IMO was the inclusion of a setting, which I would have rather been spent on powers and the like. Still, worth the price for its multigenre adaptability.

Godlike - very good and free D20 rules for powers. Easily addable to standard D20 stuff. I really liked these rules.

And that leaves us With SAS. I have heard this described as D20 in name but not spirit. Could somone go over the advantages and disadvantages of SAS? What did you like? What didn't you? Whay are many saying that it isn't really D20, when it bears the symbol, and from a cursory glance, looked to be so to me?

Thanks for the info,

Razuur

The comments about how close or far d20 SAS is to a standard DND game come from people's perception of how much a game can deviate from the original.

For example, d20 SAS describes the SAS skills in a d20 format. Some people were upset because they prefered the idea that SAS should have repeated and updated the DND skill list to modern times.

Some people liked the idea because the mechanics were all the same, so they thought they basicaly a brand new batch of skills they could use in their game.

Depends on whether you though one list should replace the other or be added to the orginal.

There are other changes to playing a straight d20 SAS game, but I know of some people who are picking and choosing what to keep and discard and other who are running it as is.

Bottom like I am sure that the comments on d20 SAS is what prompted MNM to go full OGL.

Nope. From what the author said on the Green Ronin forums, they went OGL so that they could include the character creation rules.

Actually... you're forgetting the *first* d20 superhero game: Vigilance, published in pdf format in April, and coming to a Borders/Waldens near you in December

Actually, wasn't the first one the Foundation? I've never seen it, but it's crappiness is mythic.
