Sauran racial HD?

Below are the listed Sauran racial traits. Do they have a level of Humanoid? If so they get skills, hit points etc for the race level. If not, they don't




Racial Abilities: Sauran have the following racial traits:

·+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence.

·Medium size.

·A Sauran's base land speed is 30 feet.

·Racial Skills: Sauran have a +2 racial bonus on Balance, Jump, and Swim checks.

·Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Sauran is automatically proficient with a Shortspear, Longspear and Spear.

·+4 natural armor bonus.

·Natural Weapons: Bite (1d4).

·Automatic Languages: Draconic, Tradespeak. Bonus Languages: Aquan, Goblin, Gnoll, Orc.

·Favored Class: Fighter.

·Level adjustment +1.

It also has fewer natural weapons, one less natural armor bonus and fewer weapon proficiencies than the 3.5 lizardman, which is also an ECL +1 race.

No Saurans do not have Racial HD and 3.5 Lizardfolk are an ECL+3 race (2 HD and +1 LA).

Saurans are basically toned down Lizardfolk with the Racial HD removed. However when I originally suggested the change it was felt that the Lizardfolk racial benefits (see below) were too powerful for an LA of +1 and would be an LA of +2 without the inferior racial HD. As a result I trimmed them down a bit.

—Racial Skills: Lizardfolk have a +4 racial bonus on Balance, Jump, and Swim checks.
—Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A lizardfolk is automatically proficient with simple weapons and shields.

—Natural Weapons: 2 claws (1d4) and bite (1d4).
—Special Qualities (see above): Hold breath.
—Automatic Languages: Common, Draconic. Bonus Languages: Aquan, Goblin, Gnoll, Orc.

That set probably would warrant an LA of +2 and did come out at that using LA estimation systems that I had a look at.

Well, none, without class levels a Suaran has no HD. Saurans are similar to drow in this repect, they have an LA but no monstrous HD. So you never meet just a Sauran in the way you could meet a Lizardfolk or an Ogre. You meet a Sauran Warrior 1 or a Sauran Expert 1. Its like the core races, there is no "Human" only "Human <class> 1".
