Savage Tide - Greyhawk History Question

This is probably one for the true lorekeepers of Greyhawk on the board.

I am planning on running the Savage Tide Adventure Path as my next campaign. I usually put together a players guide for each campaign I run, with house rules, campaign background, etc. Usually this includes a short history of the world in which the players live. But the question comes up:

How much would characters from a city as remote as Sasserine, know about Greyhawk history and more recent events. What would be the most well known events?

You should go to paizo.com and download the Savage Tide Player's Guide. Sasserine is isolated (due to the oppression of the Sea Princes) but the Scarlet Brotherhood helped "liberate" them during the Greyhawk Wars. Since then, it's seen an explosion of commerce and visitors. Considering the number of sages, libraries, and visitors to the city, I would say that the citizens of Sasserine are as well-versed as any other port city. (They may be a month or two behind on the news due to travel times, but that should be all.)

Sasserine may be a fairly remote settlement, but it is also a newly liberated, fairly cosmopolitan port city trying to regain its former grandeur and power. I would think that all of the newly arrived merchants, sailors, and diplomats would bring a lot of history, stories, and rumors with them. I would also think that the citizens of Sasserine would be very familiar with the machinations of the Scarlet Brotherhood in the Jeklea Bay and Amedio Jungle areas during and after the Greyhawk Wars. Assuming the events of the first two APs took place in your version of Greyhawk, I would also think that the citizens of Sasserine would have at least a passing knowledge of those events since the city does throw the Wormfall Festival.

Yeah Sasserine isn't exactly like the hub of all things GH, but they certainly are not as behind the curve as their sister city of Cauldron. ;) Nor would they not know about any GH recent history since they are/were involved in some of it.

I agree: given Sasserine's isolation and recent freedom, the PCs would likely be relatively ignorant of the rest of GH, though they may well know more about the southern coasts and isles, perhaps, than the rest of GH does.

There are several great articles and maps by Tal Meta on Canonfire! that detail the "Sunelan" coast areas south of the Hellfurnaces, that anyone who's running Savage Tide should consider checking out. Thanks to all for the input.

As Nightfall suggests, the inhabitants of Sasserine probably have some idea of what happened in the Shackled City adventure path. This was before my DUNGEON time. Can someone brief me on the basic outline of the SCAP?

Thanks

General knowledge:
An evil cult threatens Cauldron. The Cathedral of Wee Jas is implicated in the threat. The volcano comes to life. Fiends are seen falling from the sky. The city is rebuilding.

Precise knowledge:
An evil cult attempted to free a demon lord. The leaders of the Cathedral of Wee Jas are integral to the cult's attempts. One of the noble leaders of Cauldron is a giant beholder. The cult tried to open a gate and flood the city with fiends in an attempt to take over the city. The volcano comes to life as adventurers attempt to stop the ritual.

Also, the city is aware of events in AoW - specifically, they celebrate the Wormfall Festival, which the anniversary of
the destruction of Kyuss
