I'll add it to list, mmadsen. ;) I don't want to derail the thread, but I'm wondering if I agree with your assessment of LotR as high fantasy. Certainly the stuff of the Silmarillion, in the Time of the Two Trees and the First and Second Ages is high fantasy -- with their god-like incarnations of evil and their epic battles, but the Hobbit and LotR novels, set in the Third Age -- and with a focus on more of the fellowship of the journey rather than of the fast, furious, fun battles and action and the subtle displays of magic -- seem much more low fantasy. The game I want to run will probably be set in the Fourth Age, and capture the same feel as the Hobbit and LotR trilogy. The sense I'm getting is that Savage Worlds may lend itself better to high fantasy games (set pre-Third Age), but not so much for low fantasy, which is what I think Third and Fourth Age adventures might be. Of course, I could be completely off base with my assessment of The Hobbit and the LotR trilogy as being more low fantasy than high. I'm certainly open to other opinions on the matter. I have no doubt that a GM skilled in running Savage Worlds, and who has a passion for the Savage Worlds mechanic, could do justice with the gaming system to either low or high fantasy...I'm just not in either of those camps. I don't by any means dislike Savage Worlds, and I am perfectly willing to take amerigo's advice to give the system another try now that some time has passed. I'm just wondering if a LotR game is the right time to do that.
