Unlike what I experienced from roleplayers in Australia and USA (Florida) roleplayers in Denmark doesn't seem to belong to a certain group of people (It's a good thing to ask if someone roleplays... You would be surprised). I don't know if this has anything to do with the size of the population. (Only 5000000. Sidney alone has 8-9000000 citizens) You know, people being more open to things when they are happening around the corner and not somewhere downtown.. (I tried some live vampire in Australia and have heard a little about how it is played in USA (That siccor-stone stuff). This was very different). Some of the people who arranged it studiet for docter and had seeked for permission to use the... in Denmark we call it university but that would cause some confusion to call it that here... never mind. You probably know what I mean... The building was a cool place for that kind of game since they displayed skulls and other nice things in glassjars in some of the rooms. Not to mention the huge hallways with open levitated briges, many elevators etc. Often there was arrange for intertainment like live music or even a symbolic wedding once... Don't ask. It was held once a month and I can remember a count saying almost 200 participants- Many in cool costumes. Some of them went to filmschools to study costumemaking. Now. I haven't been an active roleplayer for almost 2 years (Just haven't gotten around to it) but back then I can remember 3 Cons in a year. One of them gathered 3-400 people. Denmark is a small contry(You can get from one end to the other in less than a day) so people don't see distance as such a big obstacle. I also know many who don't mind traveling out of the contry to get to an arrangement. Also, as implied, it is easy to get permission to use a public place for a public arrangement. If I should try and make a conclusion I would say that people more tend to see roleplaying as an innosent hobby. You won't get anymore raised eyebrows from saying you roleplay as an hobby than you do from telling that you play football or basketball. And if you wonder why I talk so much about live it's simply because I don't care for that live vs pen and paper crap. People here who play live also play p&p most of the time by the way. I have only meet a few people here who only tend to stick with one gamesystem. I don't really know if this is any differant from the rest of skandinavia but it might be of help anyway. By the way I know litteratly hundreds of roleplayers and about 40% of them are women.
