Scanned any of your dungeons?

First Post
I was recently reading some posts on another forum about dungeon creation - very interesting information - and it got me thinking I should upload mine for my group to see. A behind the scenes review of what they have explored already.

So anyway, here is mine below...

Kobold Stronghold

How about yours - do you have any online?

After looking at a number of them elsewhere, I'm really interested in seeing more.

I'm trying to learn how to use Photoshop and Illustrator to produce some quality looking maps, so here's a dungeon I threw together the other day. Unlike most of the dungeons I've made over the past few years (most of them drawn by hand with pens and a fancy drafting sketch master), this one is not going to be used in a publication of any kind, so I can show it off here.

I'm still looking for a good texture to use for water, and I'm also looking for some symbols that I can use with Illustrator. It's not done by any stretch, and it's more of an experiment than anything else.

Cool map ;)

Yea, photoshop is great - I happen to use it daily for work so I'm pretty familiar with it. As far creating maps with it, I have done a few (10-12 or so) over time. This is a map I made a while back to experiment with water... came out okay.

This is an overland map I was trying (experimenting with a perspective view)

Finally, this is a river/grass/dirt experiment I did.

These aren't really scanned dungeon maps, but oh well -- I am still interested in seeing anyone's scanned dungeons they may have online (or have and may be willing to scan) ;)

You should check out the dundjinni forums, cartographersguild and links off of them, plenty of guides and tutorials on doing just about anything you want for fantasy mapping.

Guh. The site ate my frist post, so I'll be brief.

Noth'Moren

One of two northern continents in my world.

Druid Warrens

Largely bypassed druid warrens. I still liked the map enough to save it though.

Great lookin maps, good job!

I'm curious what your process is on the overland map -- For example: pencil > then ink it > scan it > color in photoshop

As for the site eating posts I (as well as many others I'm sure) have been typing out my responses in another program (word, or a txt file) just incase, hehe.

The overland map was just pencils that were scanned, cleaned up, and then coloured in Painter 9. I couldn't find an old parchment texture that I really liked, so I did a really simple one using watercolour brushes in Painter and then doing a transparent colouring of the rest of the map over that.

The lettering was done in photoshop since I like their text effects a lot more than Painter's.

Heh, I'll have to get into the habit of responding/writing in word as well. At least until the new servers are up and running.

I do go there and lurk occasionally. I also own Dunjinni, and I think it's a fantastic tool. I'll have to check out cartographersguild.

I would toss my vote in for that place as well - I haven't posted there in months but that's where some of my images above were posted.

Anyone else have hand-drawn/scanned-in dungeons?
