Scarred Lands and adventures

Which (good) 3e/d20 adventures fit most easily in the Scarred Lands world?

In other words, which ones require little or no expenditure of time on my behalf, in order to get them to 'just work'?

Yeesh, that's a toughie. Since so many of the creatures are unique to SL, any adventure is going to have a pretty difficult time fitting into the setting without a lot of work. Nothing really jumps out at me honestly. SL is such a unique setting, and VERY far removed from Greyhawk, that you'd need to do a fair bit of reworking to fit it in.

I'd recommend Freeport Trilogy for starters. While it's not the best, the Serpent Amphora trilogy also is good to help you out there.

I'm reasonable sure some Necromancer Games mods might work, but no idea which ones at the moment.

Hope that was semi-helpful.

That was one of the SL issues. There were a couple of spastic attempts to make an adventure among fans, but everyone wanted to create something with their own vision so it fell apart.

In my longest running game I ran Banewarrens, which worked thematically quite well. (Elder evils from a past era, etc.). The trick is that you need to put the spire into your game from the beginning. I placed it in Hollowfaust in the dead section of the city (along with a strident commandment on the part of the rulers of the city that any guild Necromancer who even got near it was to be disintegrated on sight).
Then when it opened they were in a delicate position of needing to use expendables to get it closed and unofficially sponsored the party later on (in that “you finish, you go!” kind of way).
Some of the other parts of the game (the main antagonists for the mid-levels) required a –lot- of finessing to work, but I just took the stats published and winged it.
There was actually an adaptation I worked on for a while at MC’s boards, not sure if it’s still there though.

The best ‘campaign’ S&S ever published was actually in the Burok Torn book. It’s not stated out fully by any means but it’s a very solid set of linked adventures that would take you from low levels to mid-high in an epic fashion.

Aha. Thanks, Graf. That sounds something like what I've been looking for.

And Nightfall - Freeport? Check. I'll see how well that would go with.

Y'know, for all the supplements that came out for SL, I always wondered why there were next to no modules. Personally, I really think that's what sunk the line more than anything else. Sure, you had all these great, nifty, funky ideas, but, because the setting was so unique, you had to do all the work yourself to run a campaign there.

Sorry for the hijack, but I'm selling Burok Torn and some other SL books here . Scroll down just a bit and you'll find them.

Again, sorry for the hijack. We now return you to our regularly scheduled posting......... ;)

Burok Torn is a city that is problematic for adventurers since the dwarves don't usually let people in. The adventure works well as a way to give you access to the city and, possibily, be involved in "the next stage of dwarven history". At the very least, if they succeed, they will be in a position to make a radical realization about the history of the dwarves.
I felt like it did an excellent job of fleshing out ways for people to interact with everything in the book (i.e. Dwarven-City-Closed-to-Outsiders, the Dark Elves).

I haven't read it recently but I have it lying around somewhere if you're looking for more info.

Aus,

Yeah Freeport I thought would fit well since it would be a nice place to try out say in the Toe Islands. Or some island chain.

Hussar,

I know that to be very true. If they did have a few more modules it might have worked out better. Maybe.

I'd think Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil would be an easy convert.

Evil elemental = various titans and Elder Elemental behind them = another Titan, I'd say Mesos works pretty well here. There is that dragon early on who you'd have to swap something appropriate in for though.
