Nope, no paladins yet. :) Here is how the party shapes up so far: 1 human priest of Chardun 1 dark elf rogue 1 mountain dwarf rune wizard 1 monk (exemplar wannabe) 1 half-orc or human professional fighter BTW, Dave, I agree that you chose your guy first, but since mcuh of the campaign will take place in Burok Torn (including the first adventure), you may have more of a problem than the dwarf. Here is how I propose to resolve the conflict: "--some name--" was a prominent rune wizard before the Titanswar when the dark elves and dwarves were allied. Always close to his dark elven allies, this dwarf was a scholar of magic, and he studied the dark elven forms of magic. Among his closest friends was a rebellious young dark elf (Dave's char). During the Titanswar, the Dwarven King (I think it was Thain) came to mistrust his dark elven allies and asked the great wizard to divine what would occur at their confrontation with Chern. The wizard conjured up images of deceit and betrayal--in particular, he saw his young friend (well, for an elf :) ) surrounded by spirits of death and disease. Fearing a tragedy to come, the wizard warned the young elf to leave his home and travel far to the south. Refusing to let his own people die without him, the wizard stood with the dwarves at the Battle of Gambedal's Bridge. When Goran decided the dwarves had betrayed them and fled, he remained, refusing to believe the worst of his allies. Although he manages to surivie the ensuing slaughter, the wizard was badly wounded and soon became diseased. As he lay dying, the wizard recorded what he had seen in his vision-- the young dark elf, standing between Goran and Nalthalos, and the truth about Gambedal's Bridge. The wizard had seen what was to come, the viscious war between the two races, and believed that this elven boy was somehow linked to its end. Many years later, the wizard's son, himself a prominent rune wizard, came of age and discovered his father's writing. Half in disbelief and half with a sense of patriachal fility (sp?) he set off to find this elf and discover the truth of his father's visions. With that, hopefully he won't kill you as soon as he sees you. Well, one can hope. -Mike Gill
