The northeastern spur of the Corusk Mountains between the frozen wastes of the Ice Barbarians and the Sable Wood is the domain of Skuri Fjottein, undisputed matriarch of a tribe of frost giants. The ogres, evil humanoids, and barbarian tribes that reside in the surrounding area pay Skuri tribute in return for not being destroyed. Skuri was not always such an important giantess. She was in fact exiled from her own tribe farther residing in the western reaches of the Corusk Mountains. Although as evil as her tribesmen, Skuri is a heretic. The traditional worship of her people remains inadequate for Skuri. Nature, in all its savage coldness, is Skuri's deity. She is loyal to those who serve her with strength and cunning, but hesitates not in the slightest to destroy those who show weakness or undue stupidity. Skuri became matriarch through murder and treachery. She was captured and taken as a concubine by the tribe's former leader, but this was not a position that suited her. She seduced the tribal jarl's eldest son, and the two of them slew his father and mother. He then took Skuri as his wife, thinking that he would be the tribe's new master. Skuri killed him in single combat, took the eldest son of another family group as her consort, and had the rest of her former husband's family slain. Skuri dreams of bloody revenge against her former tribe. Also, one day soon, she has vowed herself, she will stride into Jotsplat as its conqueror. Then the land of the Ice Barbarians will have a worthy queen. In the meantime, she emulates a glacier: slowly but irrestibly expanding her power base until all in her path is crushed beneath her icy fist. Skuri Fjottein, Female Frost Giant Drd6: CR 15; Large Giant (Cold) (13 ft. 5 in. tall); HD 20d8+100; hp 194; Init -1; Spd 40 ft.; AC 21 (-1 size, -1 Dex, +9 natural, +2 leather armor, +2 large wooden shield) (touch 8, flat-footed 22); Atk +21/+16/+11 melee (1d8+8/crit 18-20, Large scimitar), or +12/+7/+2 ranged (1d6+8/Medium-size sling); Reach 10 ft.; SA spells; SQ rock catching, cold subtype, nature sense, woodland stride, trackless step, resist nature's lure, wildshape 1/day; AL NE; SV Fort +22, Ref +7, Will +14; Str 26, Dex 9, Con 21, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 12. Skills: Animal Empathy +9, Climb +12, Concentration +13, Intuit Direction +9, Jump +12, Listen +5, Spot +11, Wilderness Lore +11. Feats: Alertness, Cleave, Great Cleave, Improved Bull Rush, Power Attack, Sunder, Track. Spells per Day (5/4/4/3; base save DC = 13 + spell level): 0 - detect magic, flare, guidance (x2), resistance; 1st - cure light wounds (x2), entangle, faerie fire; 2nd - chill metal, speak with animals, summon nature's ally II, warp wood; 3rd - greater magic fang, protection from elements, snare. Possessions: boots of the winterlands, +2 cloak of resistance, +2 periapt of Wisdom, ring of feather falling.
