Sculpt Spell

Sculpt Spell states that you can place "4 10 foot cubes".

Where?

Anywhere within spell range?

That seems excessive.

I ruled in our game on Saturday that each 10 foot cube must be within 10 feet of at least one other 10 foot cube.

Is there an errata on this?

No errata of which I am aware.

I would be even more restrictive and say that each cube must be adjacent to another cube in some way, even if it is just point-to-point.

I'd rule that they must be adjacent-- i.e., that each cube must share at least one face with another cube. I base this on no evidence whatsoever. ;)

Actually, this is a reasonable interpretation.

I was thinking along the lines of: Each cube must share 5 feet of facing with at least one other cube.

This would automatically handle orientation issues (i.e. no 45 degree cubes with 60 degree cubes, all cubes are at the same orientation).

But, at the same time, it gives some level of flexibility with the spell. For example, allowing you to attack 8 opponents that are surrounding an ally, without targeting the ally.
