I wasn't one of the people that said that, but really, if someone finds anything disgusting, whether it is liked by someone else or not, an opinion is an opinion, and especially if the activity is something exercised by the minority of people, lump it. Sorry, that is life. Condemn what you will, that is one of the gifts of free will. Outright offending people here is not right, but if someone says your private practices are disgusting to them, that is something that a person needs to accept. The saddest part of this is that someone found offense in this book, and instead of being a supportive rpg community, the fangs and claws came out. People mention the First Amendment when trying to silence someone. Hey, from what I have seen in the Dragon, I am not into the book and feel that it is a poor subject matter, and I am voting with my wallet. Does the idea of the book gross me out? No, I have seen things in this world firsthand that are very harsh and disturbing, this book cannot Cook (ok, pun intended) up anything that could 'freak me out'. My concern is that this is the material that those who are opposed to our hobby have been waiting for. And if the naysayers are right, I am genuinely glad, but never underestimate the power of determination. One person can make more difference than one may think. And obviously, by the sheer level of rancor in this thread, we are not even united and truly supportive of each other, and I am not sure if this is fueled by a need to justify one's own actions, or just a need to rebel against 'the norm', or yet another reason. You can pretend that people out there aren't powerful enough to destroy our hobby all you want, but that doesn't mean that there aren't people out there working on it and giving it their best shot. h
